We are landscapers,
Galvanised steel and corten steel (Weathered Steel) has become a trend throughout landscaping projects around Australia.
We are seeing these products used widely in applications whereas landscapers we would not normally install them; on or against concrete paths, pavers, steps and hard surfaces.
The nature of these products is such that they naturally rust and will stain these surfaces, which can be hard to remove.
We suggest any Hedge weathered steel edging product be limited to installations around gardens beds and in areas that do not come into contact with hard surfaces.
Great question.
Hedge Flex steel garden edging is manufactured to provide maximum flexibility when used to create curves throughout your garden design.
Hedge Straight steel edging is manufactured to provide the ultimate stability when you wish to achieve perfectly crisp, clean straight lines.
Yes you can
We have designed a very smart joining system that requires no screws or onsite welding, that allows you to join Flex Edge and Straight Edge together to create a seamless, continuous garden edge.
*Note: You must be joining the same edging height together to achieve this.
Corten steel is a steel that produces a natural layer of corrosion to provide a red, rust appearance.
The simple answer is,
Steel will last quite a while between 5 -10 years depending on your soil conditions. Coastal conditions will accelerate the rusting and corrosion process, reducing the lifetime of the material and its appearance.
Just think how long your grandfather’s steel wheelbarrow lasted? It may have looked cool rusting away outside in the back shed but eventually, Grandma did ask for it to be taken to the tip.
